Kallax ball, what is it?

We have been testing this new product for some time as we understood that different breeders have different requirements and we want to cater to those who have smaller basin or lesser shrimp due to selective breeding.

I have tested the kallax ball even in tanks with only 1 pair of shrimp and i’m confident it will have no adverse effect on the tank water parameters as long as the process is followed.

The kallax ball is blended slightly differently from the The Original Lubao as we have gathered feedbacks from different renowned breeders in Europe and US on the requirement.

The composition analysis:

  • Moisture 10.89%
  • Protein 42.46%
  • Fat 2.61%
  • Fiber 7.75%
  • Ash 6.58%
  • Carbohydrates 37.46%
  • Calories 2748 Kcal/kg

Ingredients:
Sweet potato powder, Soy Bean, Wheat meal, Rice Bran, Corn meal, Cumin, Turmeric, plant base carbohydrates (plant base extract, sugar), Baker Yeast.

We hear you : Europe and US requirements

The requirements shared with us in the last 6-7 months helped us focus on our breeders, and we certainly appreciate it. With the feedback, we re-blended and adjusted what works well. We have also send this to a handful of breeders for testing to ensure it is suitable and we have received excellent reviews.

After months of research and development we are please to share with you the Kallax ball. The name Kallax ball is to differentiate between the Kallax and lubao. While Lubao is still widely use for larger basin it is important to note that different tank would benefit from the different balls.

What it does

The Kallax ball is specially blended and adjusted to suit breeders with high quality shrimps. It too encourages breeding and improves water parameters. The method to use them is similar to that of Lubao. There is a need to soak them minimum 3 days in RO water and the water in the soaking container/tub need to be change daily. The soaking period removes tannin and kick start the biofilm production and with the new formula it is suitable even for a pair of shrimps (i have tested them extensively). Shrimplets will certainly love to have the new kallax ball as it improves survivability of shrimplets. The ball can be use for 30 days.

Signs of success

How do you know if you are using it correctly? Simply put, if you have followed the process of soaking and putting into the tank and if the water in your tank is clear it means it’s working fine. Please do not expect that shrimps will be all over it every day or every time. If you have used lubao previously you will notice that shrimps will go to it and graze upon it from time to time. The ball is design for that purpose as a grazing material not replacing food.

If you feed twice daily on shrimp pads/pellets, you can consider reducing to 1 or smaller feeds as the lubao will generate biofilm for shrimps to consume. You can have a peace of mind if you are traveling for 3-4 days.

Should your tank be cloudy, it means the tank is undergoing a bacteria bloom, and usually happens during new tank setup, a large water change, changing brand new filter media, siphoning your soil, etc. The beneficial bacteria is increasing to consume the ammonia hence turning the water milky. What it also means is there wasn’t sufficient beneficial bacteria in the first place and it’s common, i experience it myself too. In a well established tank it rarely happens but if a lot of new livestock are added, it will trigger a mini cycle too.

With Kallax ball even with Lubao it has the ability to improve water parameters if the process is followed.

Should you remove the ball if your tank water turns milk? Yes you can, and let the tank complete it’s mini cycle and then soak another new ball and add it in after the mini cycle is complete.
